Native Plant Nursery

A native plant nursery is a unique anomaly in the tapestry of time and space. It departs from typical expectations of how a yard should behave. The space around it bends to adjust to its pace and cadence. Much like the Tardis from the Doctor Who universe, an organic wildflower farm can bring you other places. But in the natural and real world- not a sci-fi construct.

Our company has been producing and transporting thousands of native plants since the summer of 2014. Hobby gardeners interested in purchasing some native plants are welcomed to visit the wildflower farm by appointment. For landscape contractors, non-profit administrators or construction managers, we will deliver plants to your project site.

These greenhouse photos were taken in 2017 at our company’s startup HQ. The existence of a new native plant nursery in the old neighborhood changed the nature and quality of the biodiversity there.

Carbon Footprint of a Low Input Native Plant Nursery.

Most modern farms and suburban homes have a net effect of taking from the environment. Much energy and many physical inputs are added to most properties for maintenance and management systems. In contrast, our nursery is extremely lo-fi. As a matter of fact, we’ve operated as a low input system since inception. As a result, we produce much from what we have on hand.

These days we grow wildflowers at our farm in Ballston Spa, NY. Every year our catalogue expands. As a result, we learn more and more about our region’s ecosystem with experiments in our trial gardens. Certainly, the weird weather patterns of recent years have kept us on our toes. It is fascinating to learn firsthand which wild plants adapt to drought and air pollution by intrinsic wisdom about the changing world. Consequently, ecotype seed vault expands every year as we allow our farm to naturally express its historic seed bank via rewilding efforts.
