Saratoga Wildflower Gardens Estate
In 2012 we met a homeowner in the Meadow Brook neighborhood who was tired of mowing his lawn. He didn’t like the chemicals the needy lawn required and he didn’t like the noise pollution from the loud equipment. He wasn’t interested in the “no-mow lawn” concept, because he felt filling the area with flowering native plants, ornamental grasses, trees and shrubs would be more interesting. This photo shows the 1/4 acre roadside garden we built together over several years. These days in the summer there are butterflies, hummingbirds, songbirds, bumblebees and other pollinators all day as well as a flock of wild turkeys who trek from the woods twice a day to visit the gardens and landscaping, and the homeowner never has to mow.
