Garden Stewardship

Garden Stewardship.

The Key to Eco-Garden Success: Good Garden Stewardship Practices. The first 3 years are everything.

Creating an eco-garden filled with native plants is an essential step toward restoring biodiversity and supporting local ecosystems. However, successful native species landscaping projects do not end at installation. Rather, intentional and skilled stewardship is the key to a garden design fulfilling its potential. Skilled garden stewardship involves people doing the right things at the right times. Sustainability in design can certainly equate to longevity when the first few years after install are attended

Low Maintenance does not mean Zero Maintenance.

At Jessecology, we understand that the long-term success of an eco-garden depends on careful and consistent management. That’s why we offer a comprehensive Stewardship Program designed to nurture and maintain both new and existing gardens. Our stewardship team is dedicated to guiding your garden’s development in the most productive direction, ensuring it remains vibrant and sustainable for years to come.

A garden stewardship lifestyle is oriented towards being outside. And landscaping is an element that's static.

Someone has to know what the land needs and do those things at the right times.

It’s important to remember that “low maintenance” and “zero maintenance” aren’t the same thing. Skilled people doing the right things at the right times within a new garden’s first few years make a world of difference. Certainly, many homeowners decide to learn about natural garden care and can do a great job with stewardship. However, many others want help steering their new gardens into maturity. That’s where our Stewardship Team comes in.

Stewardship Program Services.

Our Stewardship Program includes essential services such as weeding, dividing over-eager plants, and culling the seed harvest to promote the garden’s longevity. We also renew garden edges, sculpt overhanging plants that encroach on walkways, and replace any plants that are not thriving. In some cases, we may even introduce new wildflower seeds and plants to enhance the garden’s biodiversity.

Community Supported Wildflower Farm.

Think of our Stewardship Program like an organic farm’s CSA. Community members support CSAs by investing in the spring, and in return, vegetables are shared each month through harvest time. Jessecology Stewardship Program functions similarly. Space is reserved in the stewardship team’s calendar to care for the gardens all year. This ensures that the right tasks are performed at the right times by people who know what to do—and who genuinely love your gardens. Additionally, we find ways to express our gratitude for the trust and support shared with us. The wildflower farm is abundance personified. With this in mind, we love to share the beautiful gifts of nature. Without a doubt, we’re grateful to the people who invest in launching our season.

Many professionals just want to get home and enjoy relaxing in their beautiful garden space. Which is understandable!

Good stewardship practices are crucial for any garden’s success. Without those low maintenance inputs at the correct times, even the most well-designed garden can lose its vitality and ecological function. Our team’s expertise in native plant garden function ensures that your garden remains a thriving, sustainable habitat that contributes to the health of the local environment.
