Project Description

Albany Capital District Pollinator Garden

The heavy clay in this garden made the site similar to a Rain Garden situation, where storm water runoff can be contained. All the native plant species we chose can live happily in wetlands, and the garden created instant habitat for pollinators. Pollinator gardens composed of native plants are an excellent investment for young families. The native pollinator species of insects that will be attracted to a wildflower garden like this are usually docile and uninterested in aggression towards humans or animals. Incorporating a pollinator garden in the landscaping is a fun way to educate kids about science through the warmer seasons.
